Plastic surgery. Gender Unit
Phalloplasty is the surgery by which a neopenis is created from skin, muscle and fatty tissue from other parts of the body and the implantation of a penile prosthesis.
This treatment is aimed at those adults with documented gender dysphoria who have undergone the necessary psychological evaluations and hormonal treatments to reach the final transformation
This surgery is performed under general anaesthesia and usually lasts 10 to 12 hours.
The intervention consists of;
– Extracting the necessary tissues from other parts of the body that will be used to create the neopenis.
– Shape the neopenis and implant it in the corresponding area to suture the veins, nerves and muscles, thus providing the new member with sensitivity and blood flow.
– It will also be connected to one of the nerves of the clitoris (which will be hidden by the “neopenis” thus providing erogeneity.
– With the labia majora, a scrotal pocket will be made and silicone testicular implants will be placed.
After your time in the recovery room, you will be taken to the ward, where you will stay for a week or 10 days. On the ward you will receive the necessary care and rehabilitation to facilitate your discharge and return home.
The result is a functional phallus that allows penetration.
You should stay here for about 1 month to monitor your evolution with certain limitations, and between one and two months to achieve a full recovery.
